Having a healthy gutter system is not a matter of just having one installed and waiting for rainwater to wash out the leaves and pine cones. It requires constant vigilance and cleaning to ensure its longevity. First and foremost it is important to do some research and hire a local contract that is both reputable and cost-effective. Make sure to know the materials that can be utilized on your roof because sometimes saving a little money may cost you hundreds if not thousands down the road. The installation and the materials do play an active role but more important is making sure you don’t neglect other aspects and their effects.

Damaged gutters can cause severe aesthetic and structural problems for your property. When gutters aren’t running smoothly, rainwater and melted snow can make their way inside your home causing leaks and eventual mold that can cause even more problems down the road. Water damage can also result in roof rot, mold, cracked foundations and eventually basement flooding. These problems can affect the value of your property and may require pricey repairs.

Make sure Equipment isn’t damaging your Gutters
Regardless of how much you’re willing to spend on your roofing project, if you cut corners your wallet might take a hit in the near future. It is also worth noting that some contractors with their tactless installation procedures will even damage your gutter system during the installation process! We have even heard cases of contractors even charging unsuspecting customers for repairs that are only necessary because of their negligence. Even if you’re a novice or expert in the field you should always monitor your contractors work to ensure they’re doing things right.

We don’t recommend taking action into your own hands but it is important to do what you can to identify the problem. Some of the most common occurrences that you should be looking for are:
1.       Sagging Gutters
2.       Clogged gutters due to lack of maintenance
3.       Inadequate gutter installation
4.       A harsh winter followed by a brutal summer will create mold.

No matter what your problem may be, if you feel something is wrong, we suggest you act as quickly as you can. Don’t hesitate to call your local contractor for a quote (some even offer free quotes) because a simple repair is nothing in comparison to the thousands you could potentially spend in home repairs.

Purchase Gutter Cleaning

There is no one sure-fire way to prevent a gutter system from requiring maintenance but there are things you can do to lower costs of future visits from your local contractor. Have you ever felt like you’re wasting valuable space with your garage door?  Garage doors take up a big chunk of real estate, so why not put that space to good use.  Although the majority of us use our garages for the sake of keeping our cars safe and away from the elements there are still many who use a garage to keep their old junk.

If that is the case you might want to start envisioning your garage as a useful room, one that may used in a number of creative ways.  Some of the best barbeque parties that I have thrown have started off in my garage.  One major problem though was making my garage presentable.

middletown garage doors

Start off by emptying you garage of any useless products such as old rags and old tin cans.  One of the best things you can do for your garage is to give it a nice make over.  A splash of fresh paint will go a long way in making your garage look brand spanking new.  Remember to use light colors when painting your garage.  Most garages look dank and small due to the use of dark colors.  Light colors give the appearance of a much more spacious room.

Try adding some chairs to liven up the place.  An entertainment center will guarantee you have visitors every time there is a big game on.  A garage has enough room for a big screen TV, a comfortable couch and some chairs.  Nothing dampens a get together like unwanted visitors.  Leaving your garage door open while you have guests over might encourage unwanted neighbors to come by or even worst rodents and insects like mosquitoes.

Your best bet is to install a retractable screen.  They now have screens that are spring loaded and easy to lower and set in place.  These screens come fully loaded with a screen door in the middle making it easy for people to come in and out.   With this garage door screen your get together will have the privacy that it needs.

Along with these tips it is also necessary that you have a proper garage door installed.  Nothing kills a party more than an old rickety, squeaky garage door.  For all your garage needs contact Hudson valley Overhead Doors and Operators for the following services:

Let’s face it, Garage doors take up a lot of visual real estate.  When installing a garage door always keep in mind that this household equipment will either be adding or detracting from your curb appeal which in turn will be directly affecting the resale value of your home.

There are many things to think about when installing a new door.  First try to take into consideration the décor of your home.  You would never pair up a modern looking home with a picket white fence, right? So why would you pair up an inappropriate garage door to your home.   If your house is composed of loud colors then by all means go with a hot pink garage door, but if you have a rustic looking house you might consider going with an all wooden garage door.

LaGrange Garage Doors

When choosing the proper door look at materials as well.  A wooden door offers the qwidest range of design options.  It also works pretty well in all climates.  The downside is that wooden doors are the most expensive.  Steel is typically less expensive than wood depending on how thick you choose to go.  The downside for steel is it can rust so if you live around the coast you might want to avoid installing one of these.

Aluminum is another option you can go with.  Aluminum doors tend to be hovering around the same price as steel doors but do not rust.  If you do go with aluminum remember to go with a thicker caliber door so you avoid denting your door.

Fiberglass and vinyl are available on the market and are budget-friendly and rustproof.  The downside is that there are not as many options on the market.  You might have to settle for a design or color you really aren’t fond of.

When choosing a garage door it is always wise to hire professionals for your installation needs.  Hudson Valley Overhead Doors and Operators has some of the most experienced and helpful staff around.  For more information on Hudson Valley Overhead Door and Operators and their following services contact them today.

Imagine a world where your phone, home and work place is all interconnected in a beautiful technical dance of sorts.  Well you won’t have to imagine it for long.  Thanks to companies Like Cyber Technology and their Home SecuritySystems NY, Home Theater Systems NY and Closed Circuit NY services these once believed fairy tales are coming true.  The internet of things has been making strides in home use for quite some time which seems to have caught the interest of a very important group.

Internet of things

Large corporations are seeing the value in adding the Internet of things to their portfolio.  Enterprises are ready to profit from IoT but are still a bit concerned about security and their network capacities.  Research firm Gartner estimates 26 billion units will be in some way or another connected to the Iot by the year 2020.  With companies having so many items connected to their main network the concern is hacking.

Companies have very sensitive information that can be dangerous in the wrong hand.  Information Technology staff are optimistic though stating that in order to keep networks as safe as possible IT staff should be involved in early IoT development planning before any purchasing decisions are made.  They also recommend that access policies be put in place to prevent inefficient use of network resources and to preserve network security.  IT staff go on to say that the “Internet of things”  is a potentially lucrative market but that there needs to be a great focus on network capacity as well for such an idea to become a reality.

Company Infoblox has ran a survey that has been aimed at Uk and US network managers who are involved in the running, building and managing of networks at companies that have more than 1,000 employees.   The results have been nothing short of astounding.  The survey showed that 90 percent of the respondents are planning or already implementing solutions to cope with the increased demands on networking cause by “Inernet of Things” projects.

It seems like the future is near and companies are jumping on the bandwagon ensuring themselves a strong foothold in this lucrative Market.   Cyber Technologies with over 10 years of experience in this field offers a wide variety of services that will serve your business and home well.  For more information contact Cyber Technology today for their following services:

Four days into the 2014 World Cup we saw history being made.  In the France versus Honduras game France became the first team to score a goal that was confirmed by the goal-line technology.  A bit similar to the line technology we see in tennis, the world cup technology uses a series of 14 cameras(seven on each goal line) to determine if a goal has been scored.  In order for it to count as a goal the ball needs to completely pass the line.  In less than a second this new technology processes all the information obtained by the cameras and transmits a result to the referee of the game.

Sounds simple enough, but when you consider the amount of precision needed to analyze a goal that can be within 5 millimeters of the line and the fact that there are countless amounts of technological gadgets that can interfere with the transmission of the result this technology is very impressive.  It seems that Goalcontrol (the company behind this technology) has done its homework.  Goalcontrol beat out four other competitors by submitting itself to some grueling tests.  Some of the key factors that led to Goalcontrol being picked over the others were its ability for flexibility and functionality with any goal.  The technology is able to detect any type of ball and no modifications have to be made to the pitch.  Goalcontrol also had to go through a probation period in which it successfully detected 68 goals scored during the FIFA confederations cup in brazil in 2013.  Although that was a feat in itself, the intensity cannot compare to that of the World Cup, an event that comes around every four years and holds in its balance the communital glee or grief of a country.
You can imagine why the reaction Honduras had when hearing that the goal line technology found in favor of France.  French striker Karim Benzema made an attempt on goal and blasted a shot off of the inside of the bar.  The ball ended up bouncing towards the goalkeeper who inadvertently knocked it into its own goal.  Brazilian referee Sandro Ricci went to the replay technology to confirm that it was in fact a goal, the goal was also confirmed as an own-goal due to the fact that the goalie knocked it in with his own hands.

These kind of camera technologies have been around for quite some time in many forms.  The most typical camera technology out there is for home surveillance.  Cyber Technologies and their New York Security Alarms, New York Alarm Systems, Fairfield Security Alarms and New York City Security Alarms services have helped detect intruders the same way Goalcontrol detects goals.  Contact Cyber Technologies today for more information on how to keep you and your family safe.

New York City CCTV Systems - New York CCTV Systems

In response to the Boston marathon bombings of a year ago, the Boston Police Force is teaming up with a Texas- based firm, BRS Labs, who has their hands in behavioral recognition. The plan is to install CCTV systems that utilize smart technology to identify abnormalities. These differ from normal CCTV Systems in that the traditional approach is to merely record the landscape and occurrences whereas the new cameras will record the occurrences and analyze the data it records. After analyzing, the CCTV System can then alert its administrator to any abnormalities. This is a trend that we could see in New York City CCTV Systems and New York CCTV Systems in the near future.

The technology advanced by BRS Labs is set to revolutionize how we look at data sets. No longer will our cities need security guards to sit in a backroom and monitor television screens around the clock. We have the capabilities to be alerted when something goes awry rather than having to keep a keen eye on the screen 24/7. The technology is already being used in Boston and design plans are being drawn for Chicago, Washington and one can only assume it is a matter of time before New York City CCTV Systems and New York CCTV Systems have these features as well.

The CCTV Systems are completely autonomous and check for countless number of abnormalities in any given environment. It adapts to learn the environment and what is considered out of place. A few of the things that this CCTV System has the capabilities to check for include a car that is driving the wrong way in a parking garage, somebody poking around the back of the a building where there usually is no foot traffic or someone carrying a bag that is overweight and could be holding explosives. All of this takes place without human programming or analysis.
New York City CCTV Systems - New York CCTV Systems

Of course this raises questions about privacy rights. Especially in the aftermath of the NSA’s repulsive disregard for human privacy in monitoring millions of Americans personal phone calls, one must wonder how far is too far. This system, however, is being justified on the grounds that CCTV systems are already ubiquitous and we might as well make them more functional. And the notion that it was CCTV systems that captured images of the Boston marathon bombers in the first place.

garage door services -- garage door repairs

A forward thinking preschool in Bonita Springs, Florida is using garage door services as an innovation tool in the classroom. The plan is to have the overhead door system installed between the classrooms, so that children in one room have the ability to collaborate on projects with children in the next room over at will.

With this all new and innovative use for overhead door repairs children in grades one through five will be able to socialize with one another at the discretion of the teachers. The garage door system will most likely be operated through a series of pulleys or a remote opener. The teachers will have control over this system and with the touch of a button they will turn their classroom into a realm suited for multi-age collaboration. This feature is expected to enhance retention rates while helping students become more involved with the content.

This project design is an interesting way to implement garage doors into a commercial setting. It is also one of the first projects to use garage doors for educational purposes. The school will also feature a garage door/wall feature in the physical education department that will allow for indoor and outdoor play to be combined. The inspiration behind this is to bring the outdoors into the classroom by combining the two into one.

Aside from garage door installations technology and innovation the new school will also feature an edible outdoor garden, a nature trail that goes around the property and connects the existing buildings, and of course will be the most energy efficient LEAD certified building that the technology allows.

Learn more about creating a collaborative space in your commercial property.

Alarm Systems and home automation in the news as Google’s Nest Labs CO and fire alarm systems have been failing. Nest Labs was acquired by Google in January for $3.2 billion. Nest labs specializes in home automation through monitored safety systems. They are known for their forward thinking techniques that save money by being energy efficient while also bringing the level of communication to a 21st century level by alerting owners remotely. Nest products have long been celebrated as the pinnacle of home automation and alarm systems, yet they may not be up to par with the industry.

New York Alarm Systems- Fairfield Alarm Systems- Westchester Alarm Systems

Nest’s alert and alarm systems could potentially be life-threatening if not serviced immediately. The problem lies in an inefficient algorithm that Nest uses to deactivate smoke alarm systems.

“According to the New York Times, Nest Labs discovered that during laboratory testing the alarm’s software algorithm could misinterpret movement near the detector as being an intentional “wave” command and shut the unit off. The feature, the ability to easily turn off the smoke detector with a wave of the hand from a distance of 0.6 to 2.4 meters away when there was a false alarm, is a major selling point of Nest Protect. But in its current instantiation, the feature may be a life-threatening bug.”

This home automation and alarm systems bug can be serviced by a technician working in the home automation industry. If you have a Nest product and are looking to have it removed or serviced contacting Cyber Technologies is your solution. The home automation and alarm systems experts for years provide free consulting services to those looking into a new or upgraded alarm system.

It is becoming a more and more common feature in homes to incorporate smart technology or technology that adapts to its users tendencies. With that being said, being on the cutting edge of technology is coveted but it is necessary to make sure you are not endangering lives by doing it. Slowing down to ensure the safety of clients is something for which the value cannot be overstated.

Your garage door is an integral part of your home. It is most likely the most commonly used entrance into your home, and when it is not functioning well, you and your loved ones become susceptible to injury or even death. There are certain steps that homeowners can take to reduce their risk of a garage door related injury. The easiest way to regulate your overhead door is by contacting a professional. In fact most homeowners are urged not to alter the mechanical components of your garage door at all.For any garage door needs in the Hudson Valley contact Hudson Valley Overhead Doors

With over 20,000 people injured each year from garage door mishaps you are more than four hundred times more susceptible to a garage door related injury than a shark attack. Yet despite the facts, most Americans seem more afraid of Jaws than the thousand pound mechanical components of their home used daily. So ask yourself which one you should spend your time worrying about.

There are a few simple tips that you can do to reduce the risk of a garage door injury in your home.

  • Garage door repairs: If your notice a squeaky noise or maybe something seems a little off about your overhead door it is important to contact a professional. A squeak or a rusted spring could be a sign of something much larger like a door failure. Some Garage door companies offer free estimates and it is extremely important to have an expert take a look before something more serious occurs.

  • Stay away from a garage door if it is moving: Some people get the urge to try to “beat” the garage door and attempt to run under it as it is closing. This is an added risk. Garage doors are extremely heavy and powerful, with the varying speed there is also the risk that it could close on you. If the garage door is moving up or down it is important to stay at a safe distance and never walk or run under the door until it reaches a complete stop.

  • Test your garage door monthly: A common test for garage doors is the paper towel roll test. This is when you place a roll of paper towels under the garage door and close it. When the garage door hits the paper towel roll it should reverse directions and start to raise up. If the garage door does not stop closing and move up, it is time to call a professional. A professional garage door technician will be able to modify the mechanical components and fix your door to work more safely.
